Rice Recipes - Local Specialties

Japanese Rice Balls - Onigiri

3 cups Japanese rice, cooked
1 tbsp sesame seeds
100g salmon
1 tbsp wine vinegar
2 dried nori sheets
Salt and pepper
Cooking oil

1. Sprinkle salt and pepper on salmon and let it sit for 15 minutes.
2. Heat some oil over medium heat in a saucepan.
3. Fry salmon until brown. Flake the flesh into small bits.
4. Combine rice, salmon, sesame seeds and rice vinegar in a bowl.
5. Cut nori sheets into 6 rectangular, equally sized strips.
6. Take some rice (mandarin size amount) and shape it into a triangle by pressing gently with both hands.
7. Wrap nori strip around it.
8. Repeat process for rest of rice.
